This Frankfurt travel poster by A. Deutsch-Askenasy features a white sightseeing cruise on the Main with the beautiful cityscape in the background. The tourists are depicted in awe of the grand Frankfurt Cathedral on the riverbank, as we would be.

Frankfurt, officially Frankfurt am Main ("Frank ford on the Main") is a metropolis and the largest city of the German federal state of Hesse, and its 746,878 (2017) inhabitants make it the fifth-largest city in Germany.

The Main is a river in Germany with a length of 525 kilometers (326 mi), including its 52 km long source river White Main, it is the longest right tributary of the Rhine. It is also the longest river lying entirely in Germany. The largest cities along the Main are Frankfurt am Main and Würzburg.

Frankfurt Cathedral, officially Imperial Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew is a Roman Catholic Gothic church located in the center of Frankfurt. It is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew. It is the largest religious building in the city and a former collegiate church. Despite its common English name, it has never been a true cathedral, but is called the Kaiserdom (an "imperial great church" or imperial cathedral) or simply the Dom due to its importance as a former election and coronation church of the Holy Roman Empire. As one of the major buildings of the Empire's history, it was a symbol of national unity, especially in the 19th century.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
