Orangina Couple is a 1975 French beverage advertisement for the soft drink, Orangina. The photo image depicts a hug and amorous kiss as the woman smiles and holds a glass of Orangina. The text loosely translated reads, “The Night and Orangina- A perfect Mix.”
Orangina is a carbonated beverage made from a mixture of citrus fruits that contain no artificial coloring. The drink made its debut in 1935 and is known for its signature bottle design which features pebbled glass to mimic the feel of an orange peel.
The artist, Bernard Villemot, developed the Orangina swirl logo to solve a French advertising regulation that prohibited the depiction of fruit on advertising for drinks with less than 20% juice content. The orange swirl logo has precedent in the 1920's advertising of Leonetto Cappiello and his artwork for Bitter Campari.
