Jeu De Trefle #51 a c. 1900 French children’s game created in a series at the turn of the century. This game most likely was intended to be played with up to four players. Jeu De Trefle translates to “The Clover Game”, and has a four leaf clover is the main design element of the game. This implies that the game was based on luck and was probably played with dice. There are four vignettes that tell the story of a traveling group of friends that go hiking to visit various archeological sites and go into town for a meal. The game is bordered with a subtle Art Nouveau design that features clovers in each corner. The game is a beautifully illustrated artwork created right at the beginning of modern era of board games.
