Quinquina Bonnet is a French wine-based aperitif advertisement from circa 1925. The poster features a man dressed in a turn of the century tuxedo. He sports elaborate sideburns, known as "side whiskers", which were out of fashion by the time of this advertisement. The style of the illustration refers back to the earlier poster designs of the turn of the century, making the design choice suited as a "retro" piece. The bold red background and singular figure help to relay a more contemporary handling of the retro piece. The advertisement would have been understood at the time to be referring to the classic and status qualities of the drink.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
