This poster captures a poignant scene where Chairman Mao Zedong actively participates in the great production campaign, personally leading by example in land reclamation. In the artwork, Chairman Mao is depicted holding agricultural tools, walking energetically alongside ordinary citizens, farmers, and soldiers on the path of land reclamation.

As the Japanese War entered the strategic stalemate phase, the situation on the battlefield in the liberated areas became increasingly severe. In February 1939, when difficulties were just beginning to emerge, Chairman Mao issued the call for "self-reliance." Alongside other central leaders, he personally took part in reclaiming land and cultivating vegetables, inspiring the enthusiasm of the military and civilians in the liberated areas to engage in production. This effort promoted the spirit of self-reliance and hard work, igniting the fervent Great Production Campaign.

With the launch of the Great Production Campaign, the burdens on the people were significantly reduced, and the living conditions of the military and civilians visibly improved. The campaign strengthened the close bond between the Party and the masses, encouraging self-sufficiency and hard work. By 1945, the majority of farmers in the revolutionary base in northern Shaanxi achieved the goal of "cultivating three-fifths and retaining two-fifths" (cultivating crops for three years, with one-fifth for consumption and two-fifths for seed and reserve). The proportion of grain levied as public grain from farmers' total harvest gradually decreased.
