This very beautiful poster was created for an exhibition of Raoul Dufy's work in the early 1960's. It is based on an original painting that Dufy created in the early 1930's. The poster was printed by Mourlot Printers who were the finest print house in France. Deauville is located approximately 2 hours from Paris by car and it is the country getaway for wealthy Parisians, especially for equestrians.
Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) was a French Fauvist painter, who is known for his colorful and loosely painted art style. Many of his works feature landscapes and social events, a favorite of which were regattas and seascapes. Impressionist landscape painters, such as Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro had profound influence on Dufy's artistic sensibilities. In 1952 he received the grand prize for painting at the 26th Venice Biennale.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster has been archivally backed onto linen and is in excellent condition.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
