The colorful and abstract poster was created post WWII to encourage air travel. In the 1950's intercontinental air travel was growing rapidly with the newer airplanes now able to carry passengers over longer distances.

Aer Lingus, meaning "air fleet", is the flag carrier airline of Ireland and the second-largest airline in the country after Ryanair. Founded by the Irish government, it was privatised between 2006 and 2015 and it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia. The airline's head office is on the grounds of Dublin Airport in Cloghran, County Dublin.

Abram Games (1914 -1996) was one of the twentieth century's great graphic designers. His work is now a fascinating record of social history. For over 60 years he produced some of Britain's most memorable images including the ‘Blonde Bombshell' ATS poster of 1941. His clients included the United Nations, London Transport, British Airways, Shell, the Financial Times and Guinness. He designed stamps for Britain, Jersey and Israel, book jackets for Penguin books and emblems for the Festival of Britain and the Queen's Award for Industry. His influence even reached the infant television service in 1953 when he created the first animated BBC on-screen ident. In the Second World War he was appointed 'Official War Poster Artist' and designed 100 posters. Born into a Jewish family, Games like many other poster designers contributed their skills to help promote the new State of Israel.

  • If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
