- BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) was a British airline owned by the British government. It was founded in 1939 after the merger of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd. During WWII BOAC kept Britain connected with its colonies and the allied world. The airline travelled around the world to many destinations, the first flight to Hong Kong was carried out in 1936.The airline was operative and traveling overseas until 1974, after being merged with BEA (British European Airways) which evolved into today’s British Airways. This charming image was created by an anonymous artist to promote travel during the 1960’s to Britain and other parts of Europe. The unusual size of this poster makes it interesting for use in confined spaces. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
