  • DD- Champion De La Chaussette is a 1994 French Winter Olympics themed poster by Martosco. Doré Doré, known as DD commissioned the ad to promote their sports sox brand. The artwork shows the winning Olympic skier holding his victory bouquet in a DD sock. The message attributes his victory to his sports socks as the text reads, “DD- Champion Socks!”

Doré Doré was founded in 1819 by Jean-Baptiste Doré. The company is the oldest French brand of socks and tights. Their children’s division, which opened in 1926, is known for its colorful geometric designs. The company is still in production today, although manufacturing has transferred to an Italian based plant.

The XVII Olympic Winter Games were held in Lillehammer, Norway. The games were held from February 12-27, 1994 with 67 competing nations. The games are infamous for the violent scandal involving Tonya Harding’s attack on Nancy Kerrigan in the Women’s Single Skating division.
