Alo (Charles-Jean Hallo) created this vintage original poster in the 1930s. He was an illustrator, printmaker and photographer that was hired by many railway companies to design enticing travel posters over his career. This example for Villefranche de Rouergue in Southern France was commissioned by the area’s center for tourism. It is known for its Sixteenth Century fortress that overlooks the over the town. Alo has illustrated the fortress to look imposing and impressive, catching our eye with the intense contrast of deep blue and yellow-orange.
