Saint Brieuc is a 1925 French travel advertisement by the artist, Pierre Commarmond. Saint-Brieuc is a city in the Côtes-d'Armor region in Brittany, located by the English Channel in northwestern France. The advertisement reads “The summer- The state”, which is also a clever phonetic pun.
Commarmond specialized in landscape painting and enjoyed mountain and ocean scenes in his work. Many of his travel posters are characterized by a strong bar of type at the bottom of his designs with very little type elsewhere in the composition.
