This poster features Lady Liberty holding the symbols of the Trylon, Perisphere, and Earth in her lap. It was published to commemorate the 1939 World's Fair. John Atherton, a graphic designer and a Surrealist painter, created the design. He is also known for his World War II posters, including his award-winning "Buy a Share in America" poster from 1941. After the war he created images for The Saturday Evening Post, Fortune and Holiday magazines.
