  • La Pension Michonnet was a musical performed circa 1935 at the El Dorado theatre in Paris. La Pension was written by Fernand Beissier with music composed by François Perpignan. The poster was designed by French cartoonist and illustrator, Gus Bofa. Bofa’s cartoons from the early twentieth century were loose and whimsical, often featuring funny big-foot characters. His illustration technique involved the use of white gouache and crayon to give the feeling of a rubbings or wash effect. Bofa’s artwork was featured in the French humor magazine, Le Rire.
