The perfume was perfected in the late summer of 1950 by Ernst Beaux and is based in rose and jasmine scents. Andy Warhol (1928 - 1987) was an American artist, film director and producer. Warhol was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, where he tackled the integration of art, celebrity and consumerist culture in his works. Well known for his serigraphs such as his Marilyn Diptych and Campbell’s Soup Cans, Warhol also produced and directed his own experimental films such as \"Chelsea Girls\", created Interview Magazine and managed The Velvet Underground. Warhol was multifaceted in medium, using photography, film, sculpture, paint and printmaking to create his various works. Before becoming the art icon he is known as today, Warhol was a commercial illustrator. The image is based off a story from a 1962 DC Comic, titled “Secret Love #83”. In the center of an image, a girl is swarmed by both water and emotion, seemingly about to drown. The speech bubble reads “I don’t care! I’d rather sink than call Brad for help!” The work by Lichtenstein was hand-painted and is an apt demonstration of the artists’ ability to imitate the process of mechanical print production. Roy Lichtenstein (1923 - 1997) was one of the most influential artists involved in the Pop Art movement. The Pop art movement emerged in both the US and the United Kingdom in the mid to late 1950’s, with its aim focused on to presenting a challenge to the mainstream traditions of fine art. Lichtenstein’s paintings closely and purposely appropriate the imagery and style of comic strips. Through his works, Lichtenstein unveils an interest in solving pictorial problems as well as a rich dialogue within forms. Cradling a bottle of Fonte Meo, she appears both intimate and symbolic—suggesting purity, vitality, and indulgence. Francesco Nonni (1885–1976) was an Italian painter, illustrator, and designer associated with the decorative arts movement of the early 20th century. Trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Nonni developed a distinctive style influenced by Art Nouveau and Symbolism, characterized by flowing lines, refined color palettes, and an emphasis on elegance and form. In addition to his work in commercial poster design, he was active in mural painting, ceramics, and illustration, contributing to Italy’s rich tradition of applied arts. Nonni also exhibited at major international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale, and later became a respected educator, helping to shape the next generation of Italian artists. The figure’s angular limbs, simplified features, and dynamic motion reflect the essence of modern European advertising in the interwar period, where clarity of message and visual punch were paramount.Severo Pozzati (1895–1983) was an Italian painter, illustrator, and influential poster designer whose work helped define the aesthetics of commercial modernism. After early artistic training in Bologna, he spent formative years in Paris, where he was deeply influenced by Cubism and the emerging International Style of graphic design. Signing his posters as SePo, he developed a distinctive visual language built on reduced forms, striking contrasts, and rhythmic movement. The artwork features the classic 1937 Delahaye model 135 M amidst the backdrop of the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo. This poster commemorates the 1937 Monte-Carlo Rally, at which a competition version of the car won first place. The specific model in this poster was produced only in 1937, and it is believed less than 30 examples were ever made. It is not uncommon for this car to sell for upwards of six million dollars when it appears at auction today.Delahaye was in business from 1894 - 1954, and is heralded for creating some of the most beautiful (and now collective and expensive) cars of all time. This poster perfectly captures the elegance of not only the Delahaye car, but the lifestyle of those who are able to own and drive one. The couple enter their luxury car after an evening at one of the most famous casinos in one of the most elite locations in the world, their clothing further underlining their status. This is an elegant image that oozes of luxury and style.Pierre Fix-Masseau (1905-1994) was the son of accomplished French sculptor, Pierre Felix-Masseau. Fix-Masseau began his career as an apprentice to master Art Deco designer A.M. Cassandre, for whom he worked for from 1926 to 1928. This experience greatly impacted Fix-Masseau, who continued to work within the Art Deco style for the remainder of his long career. Cassandre's interest in foreshortening, heightened focal points, and flattened planes can be seen in Fix-Masseau's works. Fix-Masseau combined Cassandre's influence with his own mastery of perspective and intricate detail to create his own, distinctive style. Richard Feynman (1918-1988) was one of the great scientists and physicists of our time, truly one of the great minds of humanity. He made his mark as an original genius, starting with his work on the Manhattan Project in his early twenties, through winning a Nobel Prize for his work in developing an understanding of quantum mechanics, and finally as a much-loved professor of undergraduate physics at Caltech. The Feynman method of thought was developed by a man who refused conventional wisdom at all turns and who sought to build his mental computer from the ground up, starting with an understanding of mathematics at a very young age. It showcased the most influential posters of the era in a collectible small format. This particular image was created by the American artist Charles Woodbury for the publication The July Century. The clarity of the design demonstrates the Japanese influence in Woodbury's image. Its simplicity was very much against the trend of poster designs of the era. Charles H. Woodbury was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, where his earliest work was part of the oeuvre of the group later known as the Lynn Beach Painters. While an undergraduate at MIT he became a regular exhibitor at, and at 19 the youngest member of, the Boston Art Club . After graduation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (with degree in Mechanical Engineering), in 1886 Woodbury had great success painting up the New England coast and in the towns and beaches of Nova Scotia and exhibiting the results. From January to June 1891 he was a pupil of the Académie Julian in Paris, after which he went to Holland, where he studied the techniques of the modern Dutch painters. Upon his return to New England he settled in Boston for his winter studio and spent his summers in the small fishing village of Ogunquit, Maine; there he founded one of the most successful of the summer art colony schools that even survived his death. He was one of the most sought-after teachers of his generation, having begun teaching on a regular basis while a freshman at M.I.T. Ironically, he had little formal training himself other than a few months of classes at the Academy Julian in Paris. Like Winslow Homer, another New England painter with an affinity for summers in Maine, he preferred \"to work out his salvation with little help from others in his profession\". Nevertheless, Woodbury maintained a close friendship with John Singer Sargent and a pleasant acquaintance with many of his contemporaries including J. Alden Weir and Childe Hassam. Vins Camp Romain, which translates to ‘Camp Roman Wine', was produced in Laudun, France which is in the Cote du Rhone region. The name Camp Romain references the history of the location as hundreds of years earlier, Laudun was home to a Roman settlement, rumored to be headed by Caesar himself. It is an interesting use of names as the French wine producers generally avoid references to anything Italian. The image shows three Romanesque soldiers hoisting bottles of red, rose, and white high in the air as if to signify that all their wines were of the highest quality. While Laudun is located in wine country, it was better known for its whites rather than reds. The poster was designed by a French artist, Claude Gadoud, born in 1905. He worked as a graphic designer, poster artist, and illustrator. It was printed by Affiches-Camis in Paris, France. The artist died in 1991.
