Because many of General Dynamics' projects remained classified, Nitsche relied on bold Modernist abstraction rather than literal imagery, creating a timeless series that transformed corporate advertising and graphic design.Erik Nitsche (1908–1998) was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, and immigrated to the United States shortly before World War II. As Art Director for General Dynamics from 1955 to 1960, he produced a body of work now recognized as a landmark of mid-century modern graphic design.
