Trained as a graphic designer, Carigiet created many of Switzerland's most memorable tourism posters during the 1930s and 1940s before devoting himself primarily to painting and book illustration. His bold use of color and expressive, highly personal style helped redefine Swiss travel advertising and remain instantly recognizable today.The Beautiful Switzerland series is considered one of the finest postwar travel poster campaigns produced by the Swiss National Tourist Office. Printed by Wolfsberg in Zürich using the stone lithographic process, these posters celebrated the country's diverse landscapes and played an important role in promoting Switzerland as a premier international travel destination.
