This special holiday commemorates the 1789 Storming of the Bastille; the very moment that the French Revolution began and feudalism was ended.
Bastille Day is celebrated throughout France, but the highlight of the festivities are fittingly focused on the heart of Paris, where the Revolution began 227 years ago. Today, French troupes will march down the Champs-Élysées in the oldest military parade in all of Europe, while the famous avenue fills with revelers of all ages. In the spirit of the French Republic, we have put together a small selection of some of our favorite French posters.
