- Orangina Sun -2 Sheet Red is a 1982 large French advertisement by Bernard Villemot for the soft drink, Orangina. This artwork incorporates Villemot's orange peel swirl motif that he developed and carried through many Orangina posters. This particular poster is known for its over printing of text in the bottom left margin of the piece which was consistent for the entire run of the poster. The text translates to, “A dash of fun…”Bernard Villemot (1909-1989) developed the Orangina swirl logo to solve a French advertising regulation that prohibited the depiction of fruit on advertising for drinks with less than 20% juice content. The orange swirl logo has precedent in the 1920's advertising of Leonetto Cappiello and his artwork for Bitter Campari.Orangina is a carbonated beverage made from a mixture of citrus fruits that contain no artificial coloring. The drink made its debut in 1935 and is known for its signature bottle design which features pebbled glass to mimic the feel of an orange peel.To learn more about the career of Villemot, please follow this link: https://rossartgroup.wordpress.com/2015/11/12/the-work-of-bernard-villemot/This is an Original Vintage Poster.
