- This 1950 Mid Delkerke poster by Belgian artist Herman Verbaere (1906-1993) is a travel poster encouraging viewers to travel to the vogue beach community of Mid Delkerke in Belgium. After World War 2, there was widespread economic growth and as result, travelers, businessmen and families alike were encouraged to indulge in leisure time and head to popular travel destinations such as Mid Delkerke. This idyllic poster features a stylish woman in the foreground and the charming beach community in the back with sailboats, yellow sands, calmed waters and people in between. As noted on the poster, Mid Delkerke is a fashionable beach (La Plage en Vogue) and located “pres d’ Ostende” or, next to Ostende, another Belgian coastal city. The French text on the bottom of the poster translated to English states “Our Own Airport, Visitor Center, Games For Children, Free Bathrooms, and No Taxes To Stay”. This helps to make Mid Delkerke seem like a most attractive destination. There is little information on artist Herman Verbaere. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
