- This is an American World War II propaganda poster for the 7th Column campaign. This gory image of a screwdriver slashing open a hand, make the message very clear: death or injury on the home front is a victory for the enemy; take precautions and protect yourself rather than get injured. During World War II, the army of spies and saboteurs infiltrating the country was referred to as the 5th Column, the 6th was the group of people assisting the 5th Column, and the 7th Colum was ‘carelessness'. The focus of this morbid campaign of posters, published by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company Boston C1944, was to decrease the number of accidental deaths and injuries in the U.S. Accidental death and injury was seen as the equivalent to enemy attack. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
