An especially popular dance team in the 1949-1950 season when flamenco dancing reached new heights of popularity, Rosario and Anonio-as portrayed by Paul Colin ( 1892 – 1986) - are Latin dance perfection, a sultry combination of personal flair and pheromonic union. Colin executed at least one other poster for the pair. Colin started his poster career in the late 1920s in the music hall and film fields, with art deco as his guiding inspiration. He adapted it, however, to his own style, evolving as he embraced symbolism and abstraction in later years. He was a master of depicting movement in deceptively simple ways, creating dozens of posters for performers in all media, reflecting the history of Paris show business and public life during his lifetime perhaps better than any of his contemporaries.
