- In this image we see what appears to be (to the best of our knowledge) a Constellation C4 Argonaut plane flying into a village as locals gesture upward in anticipation of its arrival.West African Airways operated from 1946 to 1958. It was established in 1946 by British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC). The carrier aimed at providing British West African passengers with a gateway to the Americas and the Middle East. In the 1950s it gained popularity for its second class travel. Recognized as a coastal flyer, it was known for beating prices and travel time of its railway competition. WAAC was originally headquartered in Nigeria and eventually the Nigerian government took over the airline and it was later renamed Nigerian Airways. We cannot be certain that this image was produced by Taittinger. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
