  • Eaux Bonnes (“good waters” in French) is a commune close to the small town of Laruns. It belongs to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in south-western France. The entrance of Eaux Bonnes is situated at a fine gorge which overlooks the confluence of two rivers. Eaux Bonnes was one of the highlights found in travelling the Route Des Pyrénées when a visitor would use the Chemins de Fer du Midi.
The Chemins de Fer du Midi, otherwise known as the Railroad of the Middle region of France was an early French railway company which operated a network of routes in the southwest of the country, chiefly in the area between its main line – which ran from Bordeaux, close to the Atlantic coast, to Sète on the Mediterranean and the Pyrénées (Wikipedia).
    E. Paul Champseix was an impressionist and modern artist part of a group of commercial artists who specialized in travel poster art during the 1920's as the rail lines were expanding rapidly throughout France after World War I.
