- The Greece Tourist Agency, during the late 1940's and early 1950's created a large number of beautiful travel posters for destinations in Greece . The country was hoping to enjoy some of the increased tourist traffic that was a result of newer airplanes and the improved economies of the world after the end of WWll. The Apollon of Olympia was part of the group of sculptures found in the west pediment of the Temple of Zeus at Olympia. Its original location also provides it with another name: the Apollon from the west pediment. It is one of the most important statues of the Severe style or early Classical style, dating from ca. 460 BCE. The statue is currently in the archaeological museum in Olympia. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
