  • The early 1900s were a time when travel to far off destinations was a challenge . The countries of Algeria and Tunisia situated closer to the southern tip of France were accessible to travelers from France. In this poster image the artist Henri Polart (dates unknown) shows us a lifelike scene to be found in those countries. The exotic setting of the desert and the rider atop the camel would be attractive for member of the Touring Club of France. The text on the right lower side of the image describes some of the attractions to be found in Algeria and Tunisia including Roman ruins.
