- La Ciotat refers to an area of beaches in the general area of Marseille It is the easternmost seaside resort in the Bouches du Rhône Department. It is a 30 minute drive by car from Marseille. During the 1930’s , when this poster was created by the artist, Dabo, this was a very fashionable area as a resort. In this image we see many well dressed visitors enjoying some of the water activity.The poster was part of a series commissioned by the PLM Railway ( Paris,Lyons, Mediterane’e) to promote tourism to the Riviera in France.This is an original vintage poster, not a reproduction. It has been been conservation mounted and linen backed to preserve and protect the old paper. The poster is in excellent condition . We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
