- Grasse, the world’s perfume capital, is an idyllic town that sits on the French Riviera in the hills north of Cannes. The city is best known for its prospering perfume industry which began in the late 18th century. Grasse today houses the Musee International De La Perfume in its town center, with large perfumeries such as Fragonard, Molinard and Galimard offering tours of their production sites.Grasse, the “Cite du Calme, Des Fleurs et Des Parfumes” (city of calm, flowers and perfumes) appears as a lush garden, where an elegantly dressed woman and her accompanying dog can be observed enjoying a book amongst the floral environment. In the background, the city of Grasse quaintly sits on a blue mountainside, beautifully depicting both the luxury and simplicity that the town has to offer.
