How is a Poster Priced?

What factors determine the price of a poster?

  1. Rarity - how hard is it to find in today’s market?
  2. Condition – the better the condition of a poster, the higher its value. We want our posters to have strong colors and no visible damages, especially when that piece will be hanging in our home or office.
  3. The Artist and their Collectibility – many poster artists’ works are highly sought after, such as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Jules Cheret, and Leonetto Cappiello. People seek out the works created by these artists and pay a premium for their work.
  4. The Appeal of the Image - This is the single most important factor in determining price. We can have a rare poster in top condition by a collectible artist, but if the image is not aesthetically pleasing, its value will not be high.
