This poster by Jean Colin features a classic Mayan figure, easily recognizable because of the unusual Mayan ideal of beauty, in a simple light blue background. It depicts a woman wearing a plumed headdress, evoking the Maize God. As she opens a portal to the spirit world, she is shown with a vision-serpent, which represents the supernatural conduit between the human and divine realm.

Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. Pre-Columbian Mexico dates to about 8000 BC and is identified as one of six cradles of civilization and was home to many advanced Mesoamerican civilizations such as the Olmec, Toltec, Teotihuacan, Zapotec, Maya, and Aztec before first contact with Europeans. Its cultural diversity is a big draw to the area till this day.

Air France is the French flag carrier headquartered in Tremblay-en-France. It was formed on October 7, 1933, from a merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne (CIDNA) and Société Générale des Transports Aériens (SGTA). Of these airlines, SGTA was the first commercial airline company in France, having been founded as Lignes Aériennes Farman in 1919. The constituent members of Air France had already built extensive networks across Europe, to French colonies in North Africa and farther afield. During World War II, Air France moved its operations to Casablanca (Morocco). Air France operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing widebody jets on long-haul routes and uses Airbus A320 family aircraft on short-haul routes. It introduced the A380 on 20 November 2009 with service to New York City's JFK Airport from Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The carrier's regional airline subsidiary, HOP!, operates the majority of its regional domestic and European scheduled services with a fleet of regional jet aircraft.

Jean Colin (1912-1982) was born in Paris. He began his artistic career after completing his military service and took part in various exhibitions such as Salon des Artistes Decorateurs of 1947.
