The image of the "Bloodthirsty Hun" was one of the major themes in American World War I propaganda posters. Here, one such German soldier breaks into our home, fiercely looking right into our eyes. The message here is clear - buying war savings stamps directly protects the American public from a German invasion. This is a rare poster.
William Addison Ireland (1880-1935) was better known by his nickname, Billy Ireland. He was a hometown hero in Columbus, Ohio where he created and ran his own comic strip, The Passing Show in The Columbus Dispatch from 1908 until his passing in 1935. This comic strip was his claim to fame, and this poster is the only war image we were able to locate by him.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. There are minor traces of soiling in the margins that do not affect the image. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
