The mid 1950's was the beginning of a tremendous growth in the development of consumer electronics throughout Europe. The Philips Company was one of the largest of the manufacturers of radios, record players, and televisions as well as other household appliances. Based in Holland, Philips commissioned this poster for a trans-European market as displayed through the various national flags on the left-hand portion of the image. Following other Philips posters in its horizontal orientation, the poster also advertises radios, transistors and electrophones, or record players.
