De Fil En Aiguille is a 1989 French exposition poster by Raymond Savignac. This humorous image promotes an exhibition entitled, "One Thing Leading To Another" which celebrates the audiovisual inventions of the Parisian Charles Cros in the late 19th Century. The exhibition was held from Dec. 15, 1988 to April 1, 1989 at the National Library in Paris on the 100th anniversary of Cros's death A book with the same title was released simultaneously with the exhibition's debut.

Raymond Savignac (1907-2002) was a poster artist known for his humorous advertising images. He studied under the legendary A.M. Cassandre during the 1940's and whose influence can be seen in Savignac's mid-century art style. He often incorporated wordplay or irony in his whimsical illustrations as a tool to create a memorable image.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

  • The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
