This striking image was first created for Air France just after the end of World War II in 1947 by the artist Pierre Baudoin. It depicts the overhead view the famous landmark of the Arc de Triomphe that sits majestically at the hub of many famous avenues of Paris. The artist, also reminds the viewer that Paris is the City of Lights by showing the night view from the sky atop the Arc de Triomphe. This particular version of the poster was issued in 1963 as it shows a jet flying in the lower right corner whereas the previous version in 1947 showed a propeller plane.Posters have always been essential to Air France’s communications. It has one of the greatest collections in the world with over 1500 posters created by the most famous illustrators. Air France posters are usually striking, with few words, and depict destinations as dream-like and air travel as making dreams come true. Such is the case with this image.Pierre Baudoin (1911–1976) was a French graphic artist active during the mid-20th century, best known for his work in aviation and travel advertising in the postwar era. Closely associated with Air France, Baudoin created striking, modern compositions that captured the excitement and elegance of international air travel. His work is distinguished by dramatic perspectives—often aerial or radial views—and luminous color palettes that evoke movement, light, and the romance of flight. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
