This richly colored poster image was commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Company to promote its Atlantic Fleet of 18 ships including the Empress of Britain in the lower left area. Since ocean travel was popular in that era, Canadian Pacific took an aggressive role in promoting their fleet that traveled the Atlantic Ocean.
Canadian Pacific began as a railway company in 1881 founded by Sir William Van Horne. They quickly branched out to Steamships for travel and shipping cargo from 1884 to 1965. Canadian Pacific produced many memorable and highly collected Streamline posters during this time period. They also operated an airline from 1942 to 1987 that rivaled Air Canada. In addition, the company diversified further and developed a number of first class hotels. In the communications business, Canadian Pacific managed a successful telegraph service and later on, a series of radio stations.
The artist’s initials, H.B., appear on the image, however, he is unknown to us.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
