During the 1970s, there was an expansion of commercial air carriers and with it came a rush to promote destinations for each airline. Delta Air Lines commissioned Jack Laycox to design a group of travel posters in his style and with similar features to promote various domestic destinations. This poster shows a busy day on a movie set in Los Angeles, California.

Delta Air Lines was founded in 1925 as a fleet of crop-dusting planes in the Mississippi River Delta, earning it its name. Passenger flights began in 1929 across the Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas area and grew over time to become global. It was the first airline to fly the Douglas DC-8 in 1959, and the first to fly the Convair 880 jet in 1960; two large moments in aviation history. Delta is one of the major airlines in America today.

Jack Laycox (1921-1984) was a California-born artist who specialized in watercolor painting. His career began as an illustrator for the Atomic Energy Commission. Laycox worked extensively in commercial illustration, alongside his fine art career.
