For a Secure Future Buy War Bonds
(51cm x 71cm)
A farmer invests in his future by buying war bonds in this dynamic and effective WWII poster that was created by the U.S. Treasury. With bonds in hand, he also carries the hopes of his future: his children graduating, a new tractor, a modern car, and a succesfull farm.
In America during WWII, every resource was poured into the war effort. With over 12 million Americans - 11% of the total population - serving in the armed forces, everything from food to labor was tight on the Home Front. War Bonds were another popular way for the Home Front to contribute to the War Over There. A staggering 80 million Americans purchased war bonds during WWII.
Amos Sewell (1901-1983) began his working life as a banker who took illustration classes at night. He went on to become one of the Saturday Evening Post's most popular illustrators, alongside Norman Rockwell. Sewell created many posters for the War Effort, and this is considered one of his strongest images from that era.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
