In America during WWII, every resource was poured into the war effort. With over 12 million Americans - 11% of the total population - serving in the armed forces, everything from food to labor was tight on the Home Front. It became incredibly important to ensure that America's public that was left at home stayed healthy in order to contribute to the war effort abroad. This poster from that time period demonstrates the seven food groups that were considered part of a healthy diet at that time.
