Created in 1943, “For Their Future – Buy War Bonds” is an American World War II poster issued by the U.S. Treasury Department’s War Savings Staff to encourage the purchase of War Bonds. The poster was officially designated WSS 779 and was printed by the U.S. Government Printing Office. The image depicts a mother holding her young child as they look toward a small black toy lamb. Presented within the illusion of a picture frame, the scene resembles a cherished family portrait. The handwritten message “For their future—” leads directly to the prominent “BUY WAR BONDS” inscription below, connecting the purchase of bonds with protecting the future of American families.War Bonds allowed Americans on the home front to lend money to the government to help finance the enormous cost of World War II.
