The Hamburg-Amerika Linie [Line] was a transatlantic shipping enterprise established in Hamburg, Germany in 1847 and it operated through 1970. This c1935 poster promotes using the Hamburg America Line for your next trip to the West Indies.
Before the First World War, the Hamburg-America Line was one of the largest fleets of commercial ships in the world. With so many of its ships damaged in the war years, Hapag (as it is also known) rebuilt its fleet in the '20s and '30s with sturdier, more efficient vessels that would help it re-brand as a company that was reliable and steady to sail with.
