Inchiostri G. Diletti Brisighella
Inchiostri G. Diletti Brisighella
(41cm x 66cm)
Prior to the creation of the modern day fountain pen and ball point pen, the common method of writing was to use a pen with a separate container of ink. Writing and penmanship were treated with a great deal of care and the art of letter writing, especially for women, was highly valued.
This image by an Anonymous artist was created circa 1900 to promote writing ink produced the Diletti Company which was based in Brisighella, Italy in the Northeast Province of Ravena. The image presents the elegantly dressed lady in a flattering setting sitting at her table and writing with the ink bottle prominently featured. The addition of the gold emblems and award symbols in the lower left area implies that this ink is of the finest quality.

If there's anything you want to know about posters, vintage or more modern, there's nothing Mr Ross doesn't know. His open and friendly manner helps one to choose the most suitable material whether for decoration, investment or whatever... I can't recommend him highly enough.

Just wanted to say thanks for the poster. You sent it on Thursday and it was delivered the following Monday (nearly quicker than it took us to get home) to our house in Perth, Australia. We have just had it framed. We love it; it goes perfectly with the room.

The Ross Gallery has the best selection of vintage posters I have ever seen. Seriously, if you are in the market, they are the people. And, they know everything there is to know about the posters' provenance.
