A passenger liner hugging a globe between sun and moon, the artist, Alda Sassi, found an expressive way to portray the far reaching shipping company, Italian Line. Influenced by Art Deco, the imagery is fairly abstract; nonetheless, the message is clear: Italian Line, whose flag is as high as the sun, is the best way to travel across the earth.
Italia di Navigazione S.p.A. was founded in 1932 as a passenger line providing regular transatlantic service between Italy and the United States, and Italy and South America. It turned into a cruise business during the late 1960s and became a freight operator in 1981. This poster promotes its passenger service as a quick access to Italy and other European countries.
Although there is little information about Alda Sassi (1928 - NA), his poster designs for shipping companies are popular collectibles.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
