This poster by the Beggarstaff brothers is a classic example of the collaborative team’s minimal, yet effective style. The Kassama Corn Flour poster is a deceptively simple design, with its color palette of yellow, black and beige. In the center of the image is a silhouette of a woman holding a basket against a striking yellow background. In the Belle Epoque age of excess, this poster stands out in is expert simplicity. This poster is a scarce later printing, from 1968.
William Nicholson (1872-1949) & James Pryde (1866-1941) otherwise known as 'The Beggarstaff Brothers' were pivotal English and Scottish graphic designers known for their successful and collaborative partnership in the production of many poster designs. The two were known for using of clear outlines with large areas of flat color. One of their works for the W.S. Hardy’s Company, produced for sale to collectors, is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This is a later printing done in 1968 based on the original image of 1894. It is in excellent condition and has been archivally backed onto linen. We fully guarantee the authenticity of our items.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
