Speeding past the finish line, a cyclist focuses ahead in this 1920 advertisement for La Francaise. La Francaise was a bicycle, motorbike, and auto company formed in 1890 by Victor Besse and Francois Tripier. The company sponsored its own professional cycling team, also called 'La Francaise'. Cyclists on the team would win in various Tour de France races over the years, until the teams demise in 1955. It is unclear if this poster was created for the bicycle brand, the racing team, or both. Michelin tires are mentioned here, in a nod to a marketing partnership between the two companies.
