Le Soleil de Minuit (The Midnight Sun) was a comedic opera, set in three acts. The three pastiches in this poster appear to follow the story of the opera, which seems to involve the classic themes of love and class.
Rene Pean (1875-1955) was a painter, illustrator, and a poster artist. He spent a good part of his career working for, and under, the tutelage of Jules Cheret and in the studios of Chaix Printers. His romantic aesthetic was very stylish and pleasing for the era.
