This poster was created for the Messageries Maritimes, which was a French merchant shipping company from 1851 until it merged with another company in 1977. This ship in the picture is named after the former president of the company, Felix Roussel, and it is a French steamer launched in 1929. It had two sister ships called "Georges Philippar" and "Aramis". Designed as a mixed liner, it was used for long crossings in the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. It is distinguished by its highly refined first class Art Deco facilities with some rooms inspired by the Cambodian Khmer art.
Marin Marie was a painter and illustrator known for ocean images with ships and sailboats. He was commissioned by a number of ocean liner shipping companies to create advertisements and promotional images.
This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

What Does 'Original' Mean?
We only deal in original vintage posters, never reproductions. This means that every poster is from the original print run, in the year listed in the description. Everything we sell comes with an individually signed certificate of authenticity, which we fully guarantee.
