This poster was created for famous French performer, Mistinguett for her show "That's Parisian" at the Theatre Mogador in 1937. It is assumed the show's title was an homage to Mistinguett's hit song "Ca C'est Paris" ("That's Paris") from the late '20s. Mistinguett was famous for her imperfect voice, similar to the buskers on the streets of Paris. This motif of a street person was often used in her performances.

Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois (1875 – 1956) sold flowers in her hometown of Soisy-sous-Montemorency before performing as the better known 'Mistinguett' at iconic French performance venues such as Casino de Paris, Folies Bergere and Moulin Rouge. At an early age, Bourgeois dreamed of becoming an entertainer and would practice singing ballads while selling flowers, using her earnings for voice classes. Mistinguett was well known for her raunchy and flamboyant performances on the stage. She was one of the highest-paid female entertainers of her era. Mistinguett famously insured her legs for half a million Francs in 1919, a testament to both her ego and her fame.

The artist of this poster, Jean-Dominque Van Caulaert (1897- 1979) was a painter and illustrator known for his portraits of women. Not much is known about his life, but he did create several posters for Parisian entertainers.
