This striking original vintage poster for Orangina was created by the celebrated French artist Bernard Villemot in the 1970s. Rendered in Villemot’s unmistakable minimalist style, the composition features a reclining figure in a swimsuit, abstracted into bold, curving shapes of red, black, and gold. The sensuous contours of the body echo the form of the iconic pear-shaped Orangina bottle, cleverly positioned in the foreground. The vivid contrasts and rhythmic interplay of color and form make this design both elegant and playful—a masterful example of Villemot’s ability to fuse sensuality and commercial appeal through modernist simplicity.Orangina, first introduced in 1936 by Spanish chemist Léon Beton under the name “Naranjina,” was later developed and marketed from France after World War II. Its distinctive bottle—modeled after an orange with a textured surface—became a global design icon. The beverage’s signature formula of lightly carbonated orange juice with pulp and its famous “shake before drinking” slogan made it a symbol of Mediterranean leisure and joie de vivre. By the 1950s and 1960s, Orangina had become synonymous with French café culture, thanks in part to the vivid and stylish advertising campaigns created by Bernard Villemot.Bernard Villemot (1911–1989) was one of France’s foremost poster artists of the mid-20th century. A student of Paul Colin, Villemot developed a visual language characterized by clean lines, luminous color, and an economy of form that distilled each subject to its essence. His work for brands such as Orangina, Perrier, Air France, and Bally helped define the visual identity of postwar European advertising. Villemot’s posters are now recognized as icons of graphic design, celebrated for their timeless elegance and sophisticated wit. This is an Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all our posters.
