This charming poster was created in 1899 to promote an operetta in three acts titled, "Shakspeare!". The plotline has been lost to the passing of time, but the image remains charming and fun.


Rene' Pean (1875-1955) was a painter, illustrator, and a poster artist. He spent a good part of his career working for, and under, the tutelage of Jules Cheret and in the studios of Chaix Printers. His romantic aesthetic was very stylish and pleasing for the era.

This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition.
