Sonora Lutte Wrestling

The company, Sonora started making chiming clocks and chiming bells in New York City. Inspired by these first endeavors, they started using the motto "Clear as a bell" for their future products such as phonographs and radios. A bell is clearly seen next to the name of the brand in the poster. By 1955, when this poster was created, Sonora had been selling televisions for years. The company had expanded to Europe and opened an affiliate in France as far back as 1932.

The high contrast between the black and yellow catches the attention of the viewer right away. The poster reads from the French: "Those who know, demand a Sonora TV", and also we find specified that it came with 12 channels. In the poster, we see a group of people that seem to be nervous, on edge and cheering and watching the television; and if we look closely at the television underneath them we see a couple of wrestlers in it. Wrestling was very popular during the first years of television because it was easy to produce, it was not uncommon to find five or six such shows during the same week. So it would have been very appealing to consumers to find that subject in their television advertisement.
