This vintage poster by Leonetto Cappiello (1875–1942) was created to promote Source Reine, Spa Monopole, the famous Belgian mineral water from the town of Spa. The artwork depicts a radiant woman in a flowing yellow dress, joyfully pouring a vessel of pure, cascading water. Set against a dramatic landscape of red earth and tall trees, the image emphasizes the natural and life-giving qualities of the spring. The dynamic movement of the figure and the streaming water convey freshness, vitality, and the prestige long associated with Spa’s mineral waters. The springs of Spa, Belgium, had been celebrated since the Renaissance for their curative properties, and by the late 19th and early 20th century the town became synonymous with bottled mineral water throughout Europe. Spa Monopole, founded in 1921, grew into one of the most important mineral water companies, protecting and commercializing these historic springs. “Source Reine” (Queen’s Spring) was one of their most prized sources, marketed for its purity and health benefits.Leonetto Cappiello, born in Livorno, Italy, is celebrated as one of the most important figures in early 20th-century poster design. Often called “the father of modern advertising,” Cappiello revolutionized poster art by abandoning the intricate detail of Art Nouveau and instead using bold figures, bright colors, and strong contrasts against plain backgrounds. His approach created instantly memorable images for products ranging from beverages and liqueurs to theaters and consumer goods. To learn more about the career of Cappiello, please follow this link: https://postergroup.com/blogs/the-ross-art-group-blog/for-the-love-of-cappielloThis is a very rare Original Vintage Poster, it is not a reproduction.
